Before going under IVF procedures and treatments, which are often too expensive and could cause an additional stress, you should know that there are ways that could improve your chances getting pregnant naturally. You can do a lot by yourself, bringing your body back to natural balance.

The most important thing is to understand how your menstrual cycle works. Timing the intercourse close to ovulation when the woman is the most fertile, is the key to successful conception. A normal menstrual cycle usually lasts 22 to 35 days, and it has far more infertile days than fertile days. Moreover, the fertile period also has its ‘peak’, which maximizes your chances of getting pregnant.
Also, ovulation can be predicted using various methods. Those are usually charts and tests for monitoring your basal body temperature and cycle. Changes in your cervical mucus could tell you a lot about where you are in your cycle.

What you eat is very important for the fertility and successful conception. You should take a lot of vitamins, especially Vitamin B6 and Folic Acid, which can be found in leafy green vegetables, nuts and whole grains, and which are responsible for regulation of reproductive hormones.
Vitamin C found mostly in citrus fruits, plays a role in boosting the immune system and it’s important, especially for men’s fertility.
Food rich in Vitamin E helps the reproductive glands in their production of key sex hormones important for conception.
You should take a lot of foods high in calcium, iron, zinc and food that contains high level of antioxidants, such as green tea. Also, don’t forget to take plenty of water, at least eight cups, because being well hydrated is the key for maintaining healthy organism.
Seafood should be on your menu as well, because of high level of omega fatty acids, important fertility boosters, but you should keep it to the minimum. Avoid eating too much fish if you conceived successfully, especially albacore tuna, because of high level s of mercury that could cause birth defects.
Also, don’t eat too much refined sugar and flour that can be found in sweets and junk foods.

You can use various supplements rich in minerals and vitamins necessary for successful conception, if your diet doesn’t contain any.

Being overweight and also underweight could be a serious obstacle for you to get pregnant. Maintaining healthy and balanced diet should be supported with moderate exercises. They will regulate your weight and strengthen your body. Being overweight can affect your ovulation, because body could be ‘fooled’ with imbalanced production of reproductive hormones due to excessive fat. Fertility yoga could be of great help as the best exercise.

You should avoid smoking, drinking and drug abuse when you’re trying to conceive. All of these could affect your chances of getting pregnant.

Keep stress to minimum. Try various relaxation and meditation techniques that might help you find your peace of mind, especially if you’re trying to conceive few months without success. Learn how to breathe properly. Some breathing techniques could help you relax and relieve stress.

Consult the specialist, especially if you haven’t succeeded to conceive after 6 months of unprotected sex. There might be some other reason behind, such as underlying disease, such as cyst or hormone imbalance that could cause infertile or sub-fertility. Specialist will know how to treat it and how to increase your chances of getting pregnant.

Even before a woman becomes pregnant it is very important to pay attention to the amount of vitamins in the daily diet. Receiving the proper amounts of certain vitamins can play a key role in whether or not a woman can conceive. Certain vitamins and minerals have been found to be extremely important to the diet of a woman trying to conceive and can actually aid in fertility.

Certain vitamins like folic acid are very important to a healthy conception and can prevent neural tube defects in the first trimester of pregnancy. It is advised that a female trying to conceive incorporates regular folic acid supplements into the diet before pregnancy to prevent birth defects and improve fertility. Studies have also shown that folic acid can also be beneficial to men in that the supplement will increase the number and quality of sperm.

Other vitamins to increase fertility also include B6 and B12, which are part of the B-complex family. All of the B-family vitamins are important and essential to a woman’s reproductive health and can increase the chances of a healthy conception. Vitamin B6 has been shown to boost fertility in woman and B12 is beneficial to men with a low sperm count.

Vitamin C has been shown to help a woman taking the fertility drug, clomiphene, increase the chances of fertilization. Citrus fruits are an excellent source of vitamin C and can aid in fertility, and there are many other vitamins to increase fertility as well. Zinc is a mineral that is important to the production of the male hormone testosterone and in women it assists in how the body uses estrogen and progesterone, important fertility hormones.

Selenium is an antioxidant, which helps and protects both men and women from the damage of cancer-causing free radicals in the body. Selenium is also important in that the mineral helps prevent birth defects and increases sperm count in men. The incorporation of selenium into the diet can come from red meat, tuna, chicken, whole grains and enriched whole wheat pastas.

The diet of a woman trying to conceive has a direct impact on whether or not conception will occur. When trying to conceive and become pregnant, it is important for a woman to watch their diet, eat the right foods and do proactive things to enhance her chances. Vitamins and minerals not only impact the health of the female, but can also have a direct bearing on the reproductive system and the ability to conceive.
