Yes, you read it right. 10 years from now – you won’t have to be in sexual relationship to have a baby. Well… you will be in a ‘realtionship’ with a fertility clinic… Instead of a male partner woman will choose in vitro-fertilization.

Of course these scientist forget about the fact that the IVF is too expensive for most people and that the actual cost of money of one cycle is up to $15.000!!! This is absolutely cost-prohibitive for a lot, if not most people.

IVF is not easy as someone might think. It is not just ‘inserting an embryo’ … yeah right… it is not. IVF involves a LOT OF WORK. A LOT. Starting with hormonal injections, and lots of visits to the doctor, and continuing with physical, and not to mention emotional trauma. And of course, let’s not forget the fear (and possibility) of failure! Yes, it can fail – after spending all that money, time, and after going through stress – it can fail. Actually only 17% of cycles succeed.

Not a very good score, don’t you think? So, what are you supposed to do? Go and hit another round?

More precise statistics: 15% to 20% of women ages 38 to 40 conceive, while above 40 years old, the stats drop to 6%.

Not good odds…

Draw a line – do you think that 10 years from today we won’t have sex for baby-making? Oh, we will. I am sure we will.
The scientists believe the IVF will hi almost 100% success rate. Oh, I hope it will. The problem is their predictions are based on the research of cattle…

I truly hope that the IVF success rate will reach 100% – I would be more than happy if it would hit 50%, if you ask me. But I really doubt that IVF and poking with needles will replace a massage, romantic dinner, candlelit and lovemaking.

What do you think?

People are pretty confident that indulging in sex during the menstruation is the safest way to practice sex or at least to avoid pregnancy. And, many times they are disappointed and surprised when they end up with uterus infection…

Of course, most people find practicing sex during menstruation unclean and unhygienic… and then again, there is almost half of population who do practice sex during menstruation because they believe it is the safest way to avoid unwanted pregnancy.

Sex during menstruation is not 100% safe practice for those who want to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Surprised?

It is possible to avoid unwanted pregnancy if a woman and a man follow the menstruation cycle calendar, but there’s no other alternative to using contraceptives such as condoms in order to avoid pregnancy and other infections.

And there is another scary fact – the possibility of being infected (not only uterus infection) but hepatitis, HIV or with any other STD is high – not higher than it would be if woman wouldn’t have menstrual bleeding, but just as high.

On the other hand, some gynecologists claim that there is a higher chance of getting STDs indulging in sex during menstruation. STD do not spread only through infected partners but the cervical tissue can become very sensitive during women’s menstruation, so even the smallest dirt particles in the air and the pollution around one can invite STDs.

Additionally, the chance of getting uterus infection is higher than normal. Here is a reason why: the mouth of uterus in often wide open during the period which is the main risk of being contaminated with different kinds of uterus infections. This is the main reason possibility if infection is higher than during the rest of the month, so it is better to avoid contact. Another reason is that female pelvic tissue is extremely soft during menstrual bleeding, so the physical intercourse could cause injury, which could result in infection.

A recent study shows that an alarming number of women undergoing fertility treatment suffer from sexual dysfunction. On the other hand, sex can be a stress reliever. It’s a great way to relax at the end of the day. The problem is – who thinks about sex after crazy work schedules? Perhaps you are you too tired, and this makes an attempt to have a good sex less successful.

Additionally, a stress-filled life can also lower your libido, so you might not be in the mood often. There is a study available, that suggests that stress causes the adrenal gland to excrete stress hormones and this can block both not only fertility, but the sex drive too. And yes, sex can block your fertility – the medical tests won’t show it, and this is the main reason a doctor will ask you: are you under stress lately? For god’s sake, Doc! Who isn’t??? A child in a elementary school is under stress! What do you think, doc? Ok, that was just my outburst… sorry… but their questions are sometimes… stupid.

Yes, we are all under stress, and some tolerable level of stress is actually welcome. It makes you stronger. But when the line is crossed… that is the time for problems: skin related problems, sleep related problems … and even infertility.
Sometimes stress is simply not shown only mentally but physical too. Perhaps it won’t be shown on your blood picture, but it will definitely have an impact on your life, and on your sex life too.

It seems logical to say that if you want to get pregnant, you need to have sex. Yes, you do… if you want to get pregnant naturally of course. But some stressed out couples mistakenly believe that sex once or twice a month is enough. It’s not enough. Stress is a great stress reliever and if busy life schedule is is getting in the way of your baby-making, you may need to be proactive in finding time for sex. It is very simple, if you are too tired in the evening, reschedule to the mornings. Just do it.

After a miscarriage woman is advised to wait at least a short period of time before having sexual intercourse again. However ‘short period’ may vary from woman to woman, depending on her physical condition.

In most cases we are talking about the period of 2 weeks until the bleeding stops, which usually does happen in a period of 15 days. This is because in the process of miscarriage cervix dilates as a part of the physical process of miscarriage and in this process uterus is susceptible to increased possibility of infections. This is the main reason woman should wait until the bleeding stops before having sexual intercourse after miscarriage. This also includes avoiding the use of tampons or inserting anything into vagina, for the same reason of uterus infection.

I am explaining this because physical healing of a lasts different with every woman: average is 2 weeks, but the healing process depends on several other characteristics:

how advanced the pregnancy was

how heavy woman is bleeding

was there any complications during miscarriage

was there medical intervention necessary

In cases when miscarriage is complicated, including ectopic pregnancies it may take several weeks (talking about up to 2 months) before woman is physically feeling well. For example, in cases of estopic pregnancies it is advised to rest as much as possible, take time off work and have someone to help you with household chores and children. No exercising and it is very important not to lift anything heavy. Some women might feel anemic after pregnancy and they will probably be advised to take iron supplements.

At this point I would also like to bring out that it is possible to get pregnant very soon after miscarriage (basically you could get pregnant as soon as the bleeding form miscarriage stops). But because of the fact that some women might be advised to wait at least 6 if not more months before getting pregnant, and most of all taking into consideration that most woman might not feel emotionally ready for another pregnancy, it would be wise to take some form of contraception into consideration.
