Donor eggs are on the rise especially among women who opt for IVF and are older than 40 years because their eggs are no longer viable for in vitro fertilization. Egg donors are also very popular among gay population, especially gay men who wish to be a parent to a child.

There still exists the question of an ethics and how to compensate egg donors. Egg donors are often women who are still at College and are often are coerced into donation by the lure of big money. They do not realize the potential risk. There has been a long-standing issue in the field of reproductive medicine: a risk of donating someone’s egg usually does not come without some physical and psychological risk.
