PCOS Diet and Insulin Insensitivity

PCOS is caused by an imbalance of several sex hormones, and for that reason weight gain and most of all difficulty in losing weight are very common problems women with PCOS must deal with. This issue is in strong correlation with insulin resistance that many women with PCOS face with: their body opposes the effects of insulin and thus produces more in order to compensate. Because this resistance keeps insulin levels constantly high, blood sugar levels are kept constantly low. This imbalance is the main reason for sugary carbs cravings, and most of all responsible women with PCOS easily put on weight, and loose it so hard. This of course is not the main danger: some studies suggest that because of insulin resistance, women with PCOS are five times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes and are more exposed to the danger of heart attack.

If you are PCOS sufferer, do not let these words overcome you: there is a solution! While in some cases only drug treatments with Clomid and similar may help, in some cases small lifestyle changes can help you deal with all potential dangers and most of all help you living your life to the full.
