Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is the hormone that is used by at-home pregnancy tests to tell you if you conceived or not. Generally, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is abbreviated to “hCG”. Don’t ask me why the “H” is lower-case, because I am not able to answer that question. What I can tell you is that hCG is produced very soon after implantation, and that the levels of this hormone dramatically rise in the first few weeks of pregnancy. If you are hoping to find out when you can start testing for pregnancy, you obviously want to know everything there is to know about hCG production.

The short answer to the question when hCG is produced is that it happens directly after implantation. But unfortunately, that does not mean that you are able to take a pregnancy test immediately after that, at around six to twelve days post-ovulation. Very early on in pregnancy, before a woman has missed her period, pregnancy is more easily determined through a blood test, which can also measure hCG levels.

For most of us, waiting a little longer until we can “pee on a stick”, as pregnancy tests are referred to on internet forums, is more realistic. The levels of hCG in a woman’s body should continue to rise steadily until around the 12th week of pregnancy as calculated with the help of the date of her last menstrual period. It is still important to know that all home pregnancy tests are different, and have various levels of sensitivity to hCG. In general, all pregnancy tests should turn up an accurate result on the day of a missed period.

Low hCG levels can indicate the start of a miscarriage and are reason for concern. Multiple pregnancies, on the other hand, cause a more rapid rise in hCG levels earlier on in pregnancy. Because home pregnancy tests do not give the exact levels of hCG, but just tell you whether or not they are detecting any hCG, a visit to your doctor or midwife to determine your exact levels of this hormone are the safest bet.

Yes, home pregnancy tests are not 100% accurate and home pregnancy tests can be wrong. The experience if taking a home pregnancy test can be a nerve wracking experience and you are basically never sure whether trust the results or not.

Most often when pregnancy tests are wrong, or can be wrong, is at the start of a pregnancy. The main reason for this is because some women develop amounts of pregnancy hormones that are detectable (and pregnancy test shows positive for pregnancy), while other women do not have detectable pregnancy hormones in their body in early pregnancy (at least detectable by home pregnancy test).

Besides, it is also not advisable to take home pregnancy test right after missing period. Wait at least one week because a negative result shortly after missed period might be wrong, and showing you are not pregnant does not necessarily mean that.

Home pregnancy tests work by detecting pregnancy hormone in woman’s body, a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Shortly after a fertilized egg attaches to your uterine lining, woman’s body starts to produce this hormone, and home pregnancy tests can predict with quite good certainty whether woman is pregnancy or not. HCG increases in body rapidly after first 2 weeks of pregnancy, so pregnancy test will definitely detect the hormone after 2 weeks of conception. On the other hand, more precise and more sensitive blood test to detect HCG can be done earlier in your doctor’s office.

Although most home pregnancy tests work in the same fashion, there are different types of tests. For this reason, in case of confusing results, it is recommendable to try another brand, and despite the fact that most tests work in a similar way, always check instructions on the kit, because instructions may vary slightly from kit to kit.

Human chorionic gonadotropin is similar to luteinizing hormones and is normally manufactured by the placenta of a pregnant woman. The hormone is normally extracted from the urine of pregnant women and given in the form of either an oral preparation or in an injection subcutaneously or intramuscularly. Despite the various uses for HCG, it is used during female infertility treatments in order to stimulate the release of eggs from the ovaries.

When trying to conceive, it is very important for a couple to consider every single option available. Fertility treatment oral and injectable human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a viable choice for couples trying to conceive a baby. Because hormonal imbalances can be a leading cause of miscarriages and hirsutism, it is important for a woman experiencing fertility impairment to get checked out by a medical professional.

Administering HCG to an infertile woman will help the follicles to burst open and release an egg within 24-48 hours after being given. HCG is also prescribed for women that have already received an ovulation medication in order to increase the odds for those trying to have a baby. Synthetic HCG can also be given to a woman that has PCOS and is trying to become pregnant, because it stimulates only one follicle to grow and the risks of multiple births or ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome are much lower.

For a couple trying to get pregnant, the use of HCG can be highly beneficial and help in the fertilization process. With help from a fertility specialist an infertile couple can become tested and find out the reasons behind the problem. It could be the man or it could be the woman, but without testing the people will never know.

By keeping a positive outlook and undergoing medical testing and possibly using fertility treatment oral and injectable human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a couple can increase the chances of conceiving. Through the revelations being made in the world of reproductive medicine, it is possible for a couple to uncover the reasons behind infertility and be treated. When hope is kept alive and a man and woman truly want to have a baby, HCG can be the miracle that allows them to finally experience the joy of parenthood.

Human chorionic gonadotropin or HCG is a hormone that is used to support normal egg development in women. The substance also stimulates the release of the egg during ovulation and can treat female infertility. HGC is also used to help young males that have undescended testicles, which can be due to a pituitary gland disorder. HCG can also be used for various other reasons as determined by a physician, but should never be used without a prescription or for reasons other than intended.

When a couple has been trying to conceive for quite some time, there are physicians which will recommend the use of HGC to prevent miscarriage if a woman does become pregnant. Some women using HGC will develop ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome which can be life threatening. Use of HGC requires careful monitoring and regular evaluation by a medical professional in order to make sure the woman is healthy and nothing is going wrong.

As with any medication human chorionic gonadotropin side effects can occur in a person taking the medication. Such side effects can include, but are not limited to the following:

Depression

Tiredness

Headache

Restlessness

Pain at injection site

Irritability

Facial hair, voice changes and/or acne

Edema

Mental/mood swings

Abdominal swelling/pressure/pain

Allergic reaction

Rash

Itching

Dizziness

Trouble breathing

Shortness of breath

Chest pain

Weakness on one side of the body

Confusion

When trying to conceive a baby, a couple is willing to do anything at all and that can include taking hormones like HGC. While the journey to parenthood will be easy for some, there are others that will experience fertility problems and need reproduction assistance in order to make it happen.

As with any medication, there are human chorionic gonadotropin side effects which need to be taken into consideration. Under the expertise and guidance of a medical specialist, a woman can safely take the medication and prevent any bothersome or serious side effects from occurring. A woman should never take HCG without a prescription and never share the drug with anyone else.

The drug is a selective estrogen receptor medication which acts as anti-estrogen and stimulates the pituitary gland to producing more follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone, which will in turn stimulate the ovaries of the female to manufacture more eggs and follicles each month. Clomid comes in 50 mg tablets which the woman takes on the 5th-9th days of the menstrual cycle and sometimes the 3rd-7th day.

The side effects and Clomid success rates with PCOS make it worthwhile for many couples on the journey trying to conceive. Some women experience emotional side effects, which some women liken to premenstrual syndrome. Other accompanying side effects can also include hot flashes, thinning of the uterine lining, breast tenderness and in some cases a woman can become pregnant with more than one baby.

Clomid is one of the most affordable fertility medications and has been prescribed for several decades for ovulation-related female infertility. Researchers highlight that Clomid should be taken in cycles and if conception has not occurred within 4-6 cycles, a woman might want to check into another type of medication. As with most ovulation inducing drugs, there are risks of overstimulation with Clomid, and the drug should never be taken while pregnant or if a female has a previous history of liver disease

Clomid success rates with PCOS patients can also improve when a physician prescribes human chorionic gonadotropin to the regimen. A physician will typically not do an ultrasound on a woman taking Clomid unless HCG is added, and blood tests will also be done to determine hormone levels and to ensure the drug is working. When trying to conceive, a woman should always follow the recommendation of her fertility specialist and report any bothersome side effects experienced in order to ensure the medication is working correctly.

When a woman has experienced any difficulties in conceiving a baby, there is much anxiety each time pregnancy is even remotely suspected. Some women rely on a home-pregnancy test to relay the news and these tests while accurate in most cases (best used within 10-14 days after a missed menstrual cycle), might not be the best earliest pregnancy tests. If pregnancy is suspected, it is best to visit a physician’s office in order to be tested using blood or urine.

Either a blood or urine pregnancy test performed in a medical office is used to detect the presence of a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hGC). HGC is produced by the placenta, and production begins shortly after a developing embryo attaches to the uterine wall. It is because of a rapid influx of hormones that a woman may begin to experience the first signs of early pregnancy and want to do a test.

There are different types of urine tests which can be performed in the privacy of a woman’s home or in a clinician’s office. Urine tests might not be the earliest pregnancy test a woman can use, but the results are accurate in most cases and can tell whether or not the female is pregnant. One urine test involves collecting urine in a cup, while the other involves placing a test stick into the stream of first morning urine.

Each type of test will have a difference in the time taken to produce results, a line or symbol could be used to indicate a positive or negative result. Some urine tests are now available in digital form and when used properly will flash “pregnant” or “not pregnant,” on the test screen window. Each urine test comes with a complete set of instructions which need to be precisely followed in order to yield an accurate reading.

There are two types of pregnancy blood tests, a quantitative blood test (measures hGC in blood) and a qualitative blood test, which provides a simple yes or no answer. A blood test can be done much earlier than a urine test and can measure the amount of pregnancy hormones in the blood, which will give the clinician useful information. Blood tests are more expensive than urine testing, take longer to yield results and must be performed in a doctor’s office.

A positive home pregnancy test results could be a false-positive, so it is a good idea to get more than one test when in doubt. It is recommended that a woman waits until after her monthly menstrual cycle has been missed prior to taking a pregnancy test. However, if pregnancy is suspected, an early pregnancy test can be performed within 14 days from suspected date of conception.
