On average, true incidence of uterine abnormality estimates are difficult to make because of many different factors.  Generally 1:200 and 1:600 women in the United States will deal with the condition and uterine malformations from Mullerian duct defects are the most common type.  Though teratogenic exposure such as diethylstilbesterol and thalidomide and radiation can be linked to uterine abnormalities, most are due to polygenetic or hereditary factors. Endometriosis Symptoms Checklist

One of the most common reasons behind female infertility is endometriosis, which is a disorder of the reproductive organs and pelvic region.  The condition is most often associated with painful and irregular menstrual cycles and if it is not properly treated it can result in painful scar tissue and infertility.  Endometriosis involves the uterine tissue growing in other areas than the pelvic cavity, which can cause cysts, scars and adhesions leading to fertility problems.

How to Test for Fertility Problems

For a couple that has been trying to conceive a baby for more than one year, there are certain tests which can be done to determine if there any medical reasons behind the problem.  While people think infertility is primarily a female issue, there are also many reasons why a man may be infertile as well.  However, the situation is not hopeless and with testing a couple can figure out why they are unable to conceive.
