When can you take a pregnancy test after an implantation bleeding?
There are numerous signs that can give you a clue that you are pregnant before you ever even missed a period. An implantation bleeding is definitely one of the more obvious early pregnancy symptoms, and one that nearly a third of all pregnant women experiences. If you have had light spotting, and you are keen to find out if it was an implantation bleeding or something else, when can you take a pregnancy test?
Implantation bleedings tend to take place a while after ovulation – a week to ten days, on the whole. I completely understand any woman who had what she thinks was an implantation bleeding, and who wants to take a pregnancy test immediately. But how accurate would the results of a pregnancy test be when taken so early on? Of course, there are sensitive early pregnancy tests out there, which can detect the tiniest amounts of hCG of h-HCG in your body. Still, it is not very likely that you will get a positive pregnancy test immediately after an implantation bleeding.
If you want to know how soon after an implantation bleeding you will be able to get a positive pregnancy test, the answer depends on the length of your luteal phase, and the timing of your implantation spotting. Sure, taking a pregnancy test a bit too early and seeing a negative result has never done anyone any harm, but it does seem a bit pointless.
The timing of pregnancy tests does not depend on your other symptoms. If you noticed light spotting, or are extremely tired, or are feeling nauseous, you might just have been given a few advance clues that you have indeed conceived this month. But these symptoms do not mean that you can take a pregnancy test any earlier than other women. Those who have an implantation bleeding get the best test results on the day after their missed period, just like everyone else.

I have just experienced some slight spotting, which is dark in color. This is the second day it has happened but it doesn’t last very long. The day after the bleeding started, I took a pregnancy test but it read negative

Same here Anxious…. Had pinkish brown spotting for 3 days… about 5 days before my period which is due tomorrow 15th. Took the pregnancy test today (14th) but the result was negative. Dunno if i took the test too early or it’s really negative. But i’m keeping my hopes up and waiting anothernweek to do the test again.
I had sex while I was ovulating and the days before especially during my maximum fertile day. I had definitely had implantation bleeding six days after ovulating (on feb.11) & I spotted during the morning only, after that I haven’t bled . I took a preg test last night and it was negative.. What do I do ?
I believe that I ovulated on Feb. 9th.7 days later, on Feb. 16 I went to the bathroom and had a very light brown, pinkish discharge. That was it…didn’t happen again. i took a pregnancy test today & it was negative. is it to early to test??
I am in the same boat as you ladies, light spotting began on 2/18 at night and as of this morning, 2/20 absolutely nothing and hardly anything yesterday, never even had to wear a pad…period was not expected until 2/23 so I will wait until 2/24 to test, if I can take the suspense!! I had sex with my husband 2/6 and 2/8 which was my most fertile day. Started feeling like Pam’s was coming, thn on 2/17 I had a tinge if blood.. Just a very small amount.. Thn it stopped the same day.. One pad. I tested tonight 2/20 and it was negative. My fa is due 2/24.. So I am going to just wait and pray

Hi ladies , I had my period the 10th thru the 14th. I stopped the morning of the 14th. That night me & my boyfriend had un protected sex , and the next day and the next day. And every time he came in me. Today 2/23 i noticed there was a very light pink spot and a very light brown spot. That’s it. And my stomach is a little hard and um having cramps a lot ! For the past 2 days. Could I be pregnant ? I’m 17 . And about a week or so before I began my period I quit taking my birth controll. When should I take a test ?

Started period on feb 15th. On March 4th Got small amount of brown discharge once and that was it. No cramping or any other symptoms. Took pregnancy test today, BFN of course.

My cycle is 32 days long and it has been 4 days since AF was due for a visit…but nothing! Only yesterday I got very light spotting. By now, AF would have gotten so much heavier but it’s nothing like that whatsoever. My last period was 5th Feb and I believe I ovulated around 25th or 26th of Feb despite what ovulation calendars predicted. I took 3 tests staggered over the last couple of weeks before the light spotting started and all were negative. Now I need to buy more tests to see if this is the real deal!
okay im a healthy 21 year old lady.
my husband and i are TTC on march 1,2& 4
i was to start my period on the 3rd
my period was late(i thought it was..?)
then after we tried on the 4, then 5th i started my period (i think it was my period)
started light pinkish brownish bleeding on the 5th to the 6th and very light bleeding on the morning of the 7th
during half the day it stopped.
no bleeding the 8th, 9th, or 10th
i have a regular cycle lasting 7 days for my periods.
i took a pregnancy test with mornings urine(e.p.t test)on the 11th…NEGATIVE
whats wrong? could i have been pregnant/conceived?

Ok so my period is usually 32-40 days apart, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on march 2,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, and 12th.. My last period was feb 20th. This morning at about 4:30 I went to the bathroom and when I wiped there was a very little bit of bright red discharge and then a few streaks and then there hasnt been anything… Could I be pregnant
My husband and I unprotected sex, and a few days later I started bleeding. I thought it was my period, but it was a very light flow. It started off very brownish and then very pink. It only lasted three days, but usually my periods are very heavy and last a week and a half. After the spotting I experience slight discharge. I took a test and got a negative result. I’m assuming that if i experienced implantation bleeding it was just too early to test. I’m not sure when I’m supposed to have my period. I got my birth control taken out this past Oct and my periods have come at different times of the month since. Ive also experienced nausea, slight cramps and I’ve been extremely tired. We are trying to conceive. I’m hoping all of these are good signs.
My situation is pretty similar to a lot of ladies around here; I had some pink sorting(2-3 when wiped only) on Sat. the 17th, light brown to tan about once a day since then. Nothing heavy enough to even touch a liner. Last period was two weeks late and very light, four weeks ago today. I generally have an irregular cycle and can be four days late without a worry. I’m likely to take a hpt in a week if AF doesn’t turn up. We went through a miscarriage of twins at two months along about six months ago, and I’m very scared to get my hopes up at this point. It’d be awesome to see updates on what answers, even vague, you ladies got for the irregular discharge. Hopefully some positive results? Babydust!
I think… I might be pregnant!!! We had intercourse on the days I was ovulating and 10 days after that I went to the restroom and I have a very dark brown discharge! It was spotting for about 2 days.. At the end it turned to a pinkish… My period is due tomorrow.. i took a test last night and it was negative..

Hey, i’m not a doctor but based on what i’ve read…. hcg only starts to “flow” once the blastocyst (wee-baby) implants. “early result” tests usually detect hcg at around 25 mu… now use some math, once it implants you can figure your hcg level doubles every 36 hours. that means, 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. That’s roughly a week after you notice the spotting to be safe. Now the spotting might not even occur the same day as the implantation. It might take 1-3 days for the blood to make it’s way through your cervix… so i guess in theory you can shave off a few days. I still say wait a week post bleeding to test. Hope this helps!

ok..so I just had a baby 1/24/12. and my husand and I already had unprotected sexs twice onces in Feb.12 once in March. Ok.so for the last two days I’ve been having light spotting I don’t even have to wear a pad so could I be pregant again.
Hey I’m 22, I’ve been on birth control faithfully since Feb. 17th…I had my period from march 13th-17th, I had unprotected sex on the 17th, took a clear blue test on march 28th said not pregnant. on march 29th i had a light spotting, i used a q-tip to see how much blood was up there, just a light pinkish red color, I will take a pregnancy test this weekend to see whats going on. I dont want to be pregnant yet, I’m hoping its the birth control causing the light spotting today.
everytime me n my hubby are trying to have a baby n in the month of february i had my period on 26-28 wen it normally last for 5 days n in march 26 i had my period again for one day very light n dark brown color i’m feeling sharp stomach cramping on my right side of my abdomen but never experience any symtoms. Pls help, i’ve gone insane coz i really want a baby m 25 yrs i took one test n it was negetive wen should i take a test again my period is regular 28days cycle…..
Update: Now my hopes are really high. It’s now been eight weeks since my last cycle(usually 4-5 week cycles, and irregularity is a norm). I took another test and had a faint positive. I really want to take another test to be sure. The test just days before this one was (-). Babydust & keep your fingers crossed
I am in the same boat as you ladies. I spotted 9 days ago for only one time. It was just on the toilet paper when I wiped. It never came back. I have PCOS and that is normally how my periods start but now its 9 days later and still nothing. I dont think I have any other symptoms except i did notice that my coffee that I always get doesnt taste good now. Not sure if this is related. Someone help please. Any feedback would be great.
Ladies, its different with everybody.. I have 4 kids, 2 being twins. i had implantation bleeding with 1 of my pregnancies. Had my normal period march 12th of 2009 spotted for 2 days in the end of march around the 25th, and then took pregnancy test everyday til finally april 19th it came out positive when even april 18th it was neg. So basically it took about 3 weeks after implantation to get a positive result. These test say take a week before ur expected period but with all my pregnancies i would take tests from day one after a missed period and never got a positive till a week to two weeks late after a period.. Hello I had stared spotting on 4/7/12 and it stopped on the on 4/8/12 then I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it said not pregnant.. But my period is not do and tell the 4/15/12 and plus I’m having all of the sings of being pregnant!!
Hello ladies. I have already had one child, and my husband and I are trying to have our second. I am not sure when I usually ovulate, but I have had what I believe to be implantation bleeding today! In my past experience, and what I have learned from friends, there are lots of things that can indicate you are pregnant. I have been nauseous for two days now, which is what happened last time. I have also heard that foods will taste different, or you may not crave the same things. And I noticed right away that my nipples started getting larger, and that my breasts got sore. And as far as when to take the test, you need to wait a while after you see the spotting. I have heard at least a week. It is usually recommended that you wait until your period is supposed to come, or roughly when you think it should come. The longer you wait, the better the results, because there will be higher levels of hcg in your system. Hope this helps!
And one thing I forgot in my last post, you need to trust your instincts! I knew I was pregnant last time before I could even take the test, and I’m feeling the same this time. If you really know your body and know what is different, you will know.
