Cramping before period: is pregnancy still possible?
Menstruation is not a great joy when you are not trying for a baby, but when you are, it turns into a nasty and physically uncomfortable monthly event that signifies you that you are still not pregnant. The tell-tale signs that your period will disturb your hopes that you conceived this cycle often arrive before the actual blood flow. As women, we are all aware what they can be – from mood swings, to facial impurities, to abdominal bloating. And of course, cramping.
If your period is due soon, and abdominal cramps have started plaguing your lower regions, does that mean that you can’t possibly be pregnant this month? It is easy to assume that a symptom that you have come to know and trust as part of the complete picture that comes with your menstruation cannot possibly an early pregnancy symptom.
Are you asking yourself whether pregnancy is still possible despite cramping before your period? The answer, in short, is yes. In fact, if you are experiencing abdominal cramping and your period is staying away, every day your menstrual flow has not started is another sign that you could be pregnant. While uterine cramps are a common symptom of the onset of menstruation, they are likewise a frequent complaint during the earliest stages of pregnancy.
If you are indeed pregnant, your uterus will be working over hours trying to provide the most stable environment possible for your fertilized egg, and it is undergoing an awful lot of changes. It is no wonder that women almost always experience some level of abdominal cramping during early pregnancy, and this often coincides with the time your menstruation would normally be starting.
To sum up, cramping before your period can mean that you are not pregnant and that your menstruation is about to start. But by the same token, your cramps could be telling you that you have conceived. Because cramping is a symptom of the onset of menstruation, as well as a symptom of early pregnancy, taking a pregnancy test as soon as you are expecting your period is the quickest way to get some real information!

I’m 12, and I’ve had cramps for about 3 days now… And I am NOT pregnant… I feel bloated… Am I getting my period?
I hope there really isn’t a possibility of pregnancy for you. If you are, by any chance, sexually active and having cramps that are not your period, go and see a doctor. Pregnancy can cause cramps, but so can sexually transmitted diseases. Bloating and cramps will usually indicate your period, though.
yes my period comes tomorrow ive been having urges urinating a lot crampy stomach and excessive eating . the days i ovulated i had intercourse could i be pregnant
I had unprotected sex one week and four days ago and also one week before that. And both times he came in me. I have really tender breasts and I’m supposed to start my period this week. I usually have SUPER hardcore cramps before I start my period but right now i feel some cramping/pain right under my waste line but not near as bad as usual. Could i be pregnant.?.
I had sex with my husband last weekend (the 31st of March and the 1st of April) and for the first time since we have been together, I was not on the pill and he went inside me. I think last weekend I was ovulating; I usually start my period on the 13th of every month. Since Monday (the 2nd) I have had strange cramping in my lower stomach, I feel dizzy and have headaches every now and then, and today (the 4th) my breasts feel slightly sore. It’s a low dull pain and doesn’t feel exactly like it does when I’m on my period but it’s in similar areas. I have taken two pregnancy tests (knowing it was too soon) and they both say negative. Could I have cramps so soon after having sex and they still be related to pregnancy? I still have several days before my period (almost 10) and everything I have read has said that the cramping related to pregnancy usually comes several days AFTER having sex. But mine were RIGHT AFTER sex – the second day after, actually. Could I be pregnant?
